The Egyptian archaeological mission at Tell Faraein (Buto) successfully discovered religious rituals tools.Dr. Mostafa Waziry (Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities) said âThis is an important discovery because it reveals tools that were actually used to perform daily rituals of Goddess Hathor.

They were probably put in a hurry underneath a line of carefully laid stone blocks at the top of a sand hillock to the south of the Wadjet temple in Buto (Tell El Faraein) in Kafr El Shiekh governorate.âDr. Aiman Ashmawi (Head of Antiquities sector) said âThe discovery also includes Hathor shaped limestone column and a number of faience lamps decorated with Horus head, statuette of Taweret and Djehuty, Golden Wadjet Eye and remains of gold sheets used to cover other objects.â



The mission also discovered a number of scenes on ivory of women holding offerings and daily life including plants, birds and animals. A large deep engraved and inscribed limestone block, a part of a royal stele of a King performing rituals at Buto temple, some objects with hieroglyphic lines and the 5 names of King Psamtik I and Kings âWah Ib Reâ and âAhmose IIâ of the 26th Dynasty. Dr. Hossam Ghoneim (General director of Kafr El Shiekh Antiquities) and the head of the mission said âThe team discovered a large limestone building polished on the inside which was used as a well for the holy water used in daily rituals as well as a Ptolemaic red brick bath with a layer of tiles. The bath contains water heating area as well as a water tub. The bath has a complete water drainage system.
