Development of Dendera Temple Area

The Ministry of Antiquities began development project in the area surrounding the Dendera temple in Qena, in preparation for turning it into an open museum.

Dr. Mostafa Waziri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said that the project, in cooperation with the French archaeological mission in the Dendera archaeology area, has completed the first phase of the project, which included the installation of 9 stone terraces on the left side of the main entrance gate to the temple, to display some of the statues and archaeological elements, including statues of God Bes, Hathor, Nkhbt Wyatt, which was painted on Haya Saqr.

Abd al-Hakim al-Saghir, director general of the Dendera temple, said that the pieces that will be displayed on the terraces are located in the temple area. Most of them were the result of previous archeological excavations in the area, which were carried out on the land of the temple since its discovery. Others were found in the Mamizi storehouse.

He pointed out that the work of the terraces in a manner that fits with the archaeological character of the area as well as the impact, which shows the best for visitors.
