Egyptian team of archaeologists of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities successfully discovered at the site of Ghorifa in Tuna El Gebel in Minia governorate, a tomb dated to 26th Dynasty (664-525 B.C) belong to “The Superintendent of the Royal Treasury†or the modern day “Secretary of Treasury) whose called “Padi-Isetâ€.
The 25 plus centuries old tomb was discovered during the extended work by the mission after several discoveries meters away from this tomb. (you can check them https://bit.ly/3jsf7iy & https://bit.ly/31CQ9qB )
Dr. Mostafa Waziry (Head of the team and the secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities) said “The tomb consists of a burial shaft of 10 meters deep which leads to a big room with niches carved and sealed with stone slaps, inside them 2 limestone statues were found. One of the statues of Apis the bull and the other of a lady as well as alabaster canopic jars in the shape of Horus four sons bear inscriptions of the names and titles of the deceased.
Dr. Waziry also stated that over 400 blue and green faience ushabtis were found inscribed with the deceased name. 6 burials of family members were also discovered contain about 1000 faience ushabtis and a number of limestone and alabaster canopic jars as well as amulets and Saite period (26th Dynasty to 30th Dynasty) pottery.
4 stone sarcophagi with human shapes covered in mortar were also discovered and work still ongoing at the site of Ghorifa.
