Itâs now officialâthe Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) will hold its long-awaited grand opening on November 1, following years of anticipation and preparation. While the museum has already begun to open its doors to the public in limited capacities, November 1 marks the formal inauguration date, approved by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made the announcement following a high-level meeting to finalize arrangements for the major international event. The opening celebrations are expected to span several days and will shine a global spotlight on Egyptâs cultural and touristic achievements.
Government ministries and agencies have been tasked with ensuring a flawless launch, coordinating logistics such as guest invitations, transportation, and security measures.
Madbouly emphasized that the museumâs grand opening presents a historic opportunity to promote Egyptâs heritage and solidify its position as a leading global cultural destination.
Located just outside Cairo on the Giza Plateau, the Grand Egyptian Museum is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization. It will house over 100,000 ancient artifactsâincluding the complete collection of Tutankhamunâs artifacts, many of which will be displayed for the first time.
